Der Beitrag untersucht die Fragestellung, zu welchen Energieeinsparungen die Verwendung des Protokolls Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) zusammen mit einer verbrauchsorientierten Optimierung der Anschlussgeschwindigkeit in einem typischen Campus-Netzwerks führen kann. Er zeigt, dass nach wie vor erhebliche Anstrengungen notwendig sind, um eine energie-effiziente Netzinfrastruktur zu implementieren.
